The Disc Golf Streak, Day 1264 (Millikin Woods & Miami Hamilton)

Day 1264.

Hadn't played Millikin Woods since it was expanded to 18 holes so we decided to head up there today.  We really liked the old 9 hole course . . . that part remained the same and the new 9 added on was more of the same, maybe better since there were some neat wooded tunnel shots.  Millikin is a great course because of the huge trees and it is a nice park style course that requires hitting lines but doesn't punish you very often with getting stuck in brush.  Tee shots give you a good mix of using drivers, fairways and mids off the tee.  For pure enjoyment while playing Millikin is near the top of our list -- just wish it was a little closer.

It got down to about 15 degrees overnight -- was about 30 degrees when we got out to throw.  Cold, but not that bad since the sun was out.  Was very breezy though.  Threw okay but didn't get many birdies (should get more at a course that short) so we just finished 1-under (53) playing dubs.  Didn't see anyone else on the course the entire time.

From there since we were in the area we headed to the Miami U course at the Hamilton campus (course #54 for us not counting home).  It's just a little 9 hole course and it's fine for students throwing between classes, but it's not a very good course.  The teepads are gravel or mud, the tee posts are misnumbered, the baskets are cheap MVP baskets and the throwing lines are not well designed.  Always funny how an institution has millions of dollars to build so many buildings but won't spend an extra $1500 to buy real long-lasting baskets for their course.  And yet it's still a course available to throw.  We wouldn't throw it again but it would be fun enough to kill some time if you go to school there.  Didn't really keep score, think we were 2-3 down . . . skipped Hole 1 because of the mislabeled teeposts and threw to the wrong basket on Hole 2 . . .

Had a nice looking conservatory -- was closed when we finished though.
