Day 1132.
Since Danny was sick for the Sizzler a few weeks ago he decided to play the Battle of the Burg (at Williamsburg) as a make-up tournament and I served as his caddy.
The weather was threatening today -- it was raining on the way there and did rain a few drops during the end of the round -- but overall it was a nice cool, overcast day. But it was windy -- windy enough that it really affected drives and putting. I guess the rain scared some players off as there were only 45 who played.
Danny was carded with Matt Rice and Robert Burt and everyone had a good time. Overall Danny's round was pretty average -- driving was below average, approaches were pretty good, putting was above average. He did save some holes with good putting (didn't take anything worse than a 5 and the only three of those were on the hardest holes) but he also drilled a few trees right off the tee. He ended up with a 98 (27 holes) which rated at 789. Not great, not bad, a little above his current rating. Overall he kept his composure, made some really good putts and salvaged what could have been a poor round.
And he did have fun. Once again he told me on the way home that he had won because he had the most fun. 😀
