The Disc Golf Streak, Day 1082 (Troy's Twisted Triples @ Williamsburg)

Day 1082.

This was a fun day . . . a few weeks ago we asked Tim Gottfried to be our third for the Troy's Twisted Triples at Williamsburg which is a fundraiser event for the course to help toward getting concrete teepads and tee signs installed.  It was run by Troy Ison and Jeff Armstrong.  Our team name?  Tim Dan-namic (wordplay off of "Team Dynamic")

The crew at Burg has done a ton of work out at the course over the last couple years and it's a lot different, a lot harder overall and a lot more interesting.

We played in the mixed/junior division with four other teams and got carded with the Gibbs (Dave, Justin & Crystal) which was a great as we all really enjoy throwing with them.  We practiced the layout once a couple weeks ago with Tim just so we'd know where the holes are going (we only play out there a couple times a year).

There were 28 holes (normal 24 plus the old three open holes in the middle of the park and one more temp hole) and about a quarter was best shot, a quarter was middle shot and quarter was worst shot and a quarter was alternating shot.  Worst and alternating shot are always tough, but it really wasn't bad because our team had no weak link. Danny threw great and putted great and since we've gotten back from Worlds he's added a nice forehand to his arsenal so it worked out really well for us.

Highlight for Danny was sinking long putts back to back on 14 & 15 (the downhill and double mando holes).  For Tim it was probably his throw-in from 70'-ish with a Dart on Hole B (Old Hole 4 I think).  For me it was a flex forehand with a Climo Wraith on Hole 5 (first one into the woods) that I put within 5' of the basket (from probably 250'-ish out).  We all played good strategic partner golf.

Results?  We shot a 7-under (77) and beat the next team by 9 strokes.  I guess Danny is good enough now we'll have to consider playing regular ams next time as we would have cashed in that division.  We also won a couple CTP prizes and Tim ended up winning the ace fund throwoff (no one aced).

Anyway, we had a great time on a great card and really enjoyed the day!  Results aside it was just a nice day to toss some frisbees on a greatly improved course in a casual event.

Other good memory -- watching how excited Poppy (Tim's dog, the best disc golf dog ever) got when we got down to the Little Miami River and she couldn't wait to jump in and retrieve her stick that Tim stashes in the bushes along Hole 5 for her. 😀

Other good memory -- Troy provided chili dogs and those hit the spot after a long 28 hole round.  Also we stopped and got a Coke on the way home (rare for us) and saw a gas station where the sign said $0.00 gas.  Made us chuckle and faux celebrate. 😁
