The Disc Golf Streak, Day 991 (couple loops at Karl Von Coldewey)

Day 991

Helped out Josh Terwilleger at his CROSSover Open (Ams) for a couple hours.  The weather was good and he had a good turnout with 58 players.

After that we went to Karl Von Coldewey to play a couple tournament-rules practice rounds on a short nine hole course.  It seems like there's always unusual stuff going on there -- today during our second loop there was a wedding on the back of the building right up the hill from Hole 4 and the first round there were two women doing yoga in Hole 4's fairway.  They offered to move and we told them just to keep an eye out and we'd be fine . . . worked out so from now on I'm just going to pretend there are yogis in the fairway.

The first round wasn't too close, -4 for me and +3 for him.  He threw fine, just found some trouble a few times.  He was having fun trying out a new 150g Wraith as a stable wind-fighting disc for his bag.

The second round had me a bit worried as we were tied after eight holes and I had to beat him on the last hole to take the win -2 to -1.  Special thanks to the tree that knocked his drive down and saved me the indignity of having to go to a playoff with a 9 y/o.

I think the best memory of the day was Hole 3 second round when he threw a terrible drive into the ground and was stuck on the edge of the fairway with no good path to the basket . . . and threw it 100' through a small gap in the woods and hit the cage . . . and then deflected and rolled 25' down to the creek . . . and then canned the putt for a par.  That was entertaining to watch.
