The Disc Golf Streak, Day 811 (Whispering Cave DGC in Hocking Hills)

Day 811.

We took a family vacation to Hocking Hills so today we played the new 9-hole course at Whispering Cave.

Technically speaking this is a short course as the holes range from 165 to 350 . . . but this is not a short course because of the elevation changes.  It started innocently enough on Hole 1 with a short slightly downhill hole but from there it was a lot of steep up and down.  It was quite difficult to walk because the mud (it had rained) was under a slippery layer of leaves so frankly even just walking the "flat" fairways was a chore.  We had trouble seeing baskets from the tee, so a lot of the time we just played conservative shots into an obvious fairway.  We had some awful rollaways (which wasn't so bad since we were playing dubs) . . . playing singles I'd expect at least one bad rollaway every round.

That said, we liked the course and it was fun. I think we were just already tired from a day of hiking so the course exhausted us with the slippery hills.

This was Hole 4:

On the walk to Hole :

This was Hole 9: cool tunnel shot over the valley (but I hit a tree up near the basket and rolled all the way down) --

We'd play it again, but would really like it to be dry next time.
