Day 723 (posting on Sat 8/25, round thrown Thurs 8/23).
So Thursday night we went to Matt Blakely's weekly singles league again, this time it was at Johnson Hills. Johnson Hills is a 9 hole course so it was two rounds, one with an alternate set of tees (somewhat longer and harder overall).
Danny's goal for the year was to throw a 700 rated round in an event at some point and before this his best was 698 playing the shorts at Osage.
He threw great this night and putted really well (only missed one inside 20') and ended up +12 (66) which I thought was really good since a few of the holes are pretty long and hard. I also threw and was +2 (56) and I was satisfied with that. We threw with Chris Grayson and enjoyed his company.
The best part of his round (with basically no input/interference from me) was watching him play smart golf. A couple times he hit trees early on his drive and he just calmly and cooly threw shorts pitch upshots into the fairway and then got up and down for 4's. Overall the worst he took on any hole was a 5 and he did have at least one birdie.
This round at Johnson Hills ended up being rated 764, so he exceeded his goal by a wide margin. FWIW, mine was 884 which is just fine.
He was quite happy with the result!
