The Disc Golf Streak (Knoxville, TN), Days 2492-95

Days 2492-95

Took a family trip to Knoxville -- not a disc golf trip but we still fit a course in each day.

Tuesday . . . we fit in a quick round at Plumb Creek Park.  Decent park, was missing two baskets from construction but it let us get in a quick round.  Good concrete pads, mostly open holes, very much like South Fork.

Wed . . . went to The Claytons.  This a course on the corporate property of the homebuilder Clayton Homes.  Really nice, well done layout with great infrastructure.  Large turf pads (two per hole) and short and long baskets for each hole.  We only had time to play the front nine . . . and that was clearly the more enticing half for us since the second half moved from the woods out into the open.  (Still looked nice and fun from what we saw).  The layout was fun and challenging and the course nicely finished.  One of the best we've played IMO (too bad we couldn't fit in the back nine).  Only downside was the bugs (mosquitos) were terrible.

Look at these steps laid into the hill:

Elevated basket:

Good examples of the course -- large turf pads, nice retaining wall, bridges where needed . . . just really well done.

Thurs . . . went to Tommy Shumpert Park.   This was another good one.  We had time for all 18.  Mostly wooded course, two tees, two baskets, good layout, mostly did shorts to shorts but threw some shorts to longs if the looked interesting.  A few holes were a bit "poke and pray" IMO but I didn't mind and thought it was a great course.  We both enjoyed Hole 17 (short to short) where he had a good throw and I hit cage.

Fri . . . squeezed in a quick round at Inskip Park Junior DGC which is a short 9-hole course where the holes have short and "long" circular pads and range from 40' to 260', but mostly are 100-150' holes.  Great course for beginning juniors, although still fairly challenging.  We threw one shot from each pad (so 18 holes played) and he missed 4 birdies and I missed 5 or 6.  Anyway, from "longs" it was harder than Winton.  No aces which kinda surprised me with 36 tee shots between us.  Super hot and humid and the mosquitos were bad out here.  Tee signs were cool as they were drawing by kids.
