The Disc Golf Streak, Days 3270-3271 (Blendon Woods & Brent Hambrick)

Days 3270 & 3271

Took a short family vacation to Columbus so we got to play a couple new courses up there.  Discing takes a backseat to other things on family trips but we still managed to play Blendon Woods on Wed and Brent Hambrick on Thurs.

Blendon Woods was a short easy course that technically would best be compared to Winton Woods in our area (only 3600' long) but it felt a lot like Kilborne in NC to me because of the heavily worn fairways.  Online reviews claimed it was a putter and midrange course which I guess is technically true but I still threw a fairway driver pretty often.  Anyway, easy course, I shot a 7-under (47).

Brent Hambrick we played the 18 numbered holes (no letter holes) and I didn't think I would enjoy it very much since the first nine are so open but I did like the course -- both the open and wooded holes.  Good variety between the two halves (although would be better if they alternated more rather than front 9 open, back 9 wooded).  Some of the tee signs were *way* off on distances or pin locations . . . either that or we maxed out our drives at about 150' on those holes.  I shot 2-under (52) which was decent but marred by taking a 5 on the shortest (150') hole.  Doh!  Course itself was crowded (we played early evening) both with players and a billion walkers.  Obviously a frequently played course as the wooded nine holes (10-18) had very worn fairways like Blendon.

 I enjoyed both courses.

I liked the practice area at Blendon Woods, three baskets in a putting triangle with block makers with numbers for a warm-up putting game.  Surprised we don't see something like that at most courses.
