The Disc Golf Streak, Day 2725 (Gulley)

Day 2725

Super windy today as the temps were warm but cold air is about to blow in starting tomorrow.  So mid-50's today but felt cooler with the wind.

We went to Gulley which is open enough to be affected by the wind but we figured it would just be good wind practice.  We're both huge fans of Gulley --  I think we throw more rounds there these days than anywhere else.  It's my favorite "normal" course.  Not super tough like Idlewild, not super easy like Winton, it's a good middle level course.  You can throw plenty of driver shots . . . but don't wear out your arm.  It has open, wooded and park style holes.  It has some elevation changes but overall the course if fairly flat and won't wear you out.  They put in new concrete teepads a few years ago that are great and so much better than the old turf ones.  Baskets are good, lines are reasonable and challenging enough.  Maintenance is good (grass cutting and fairways are trimmed much better than they used to be).  About the only thing it could use are some benches.  And it's nice because it's rarely crowded (see pic below of otherwise empty lot on an almost 60 degree weekday in Feb).  So when deciding where to go more often than not we gravitate to Gulley since it lets you throw all your shots without being a endurance test or having a bunch of backups.

Anyway, fun round of disc golf, wind was very challenging, mostly with regards to putting.
