The Disc Golf Streak, Day 2082 (Turkey Ridge Family DGC)

Day 2082

Tonight we had Paul, Chris, Oz, Tracy & Rob out to throw at Turkey Ridge (our home course).  Great time, I threw two rounds with different groups and everyone seemed to really enjoy the course and find it challenging.

I'm going to make this post a summary of the course with a lot of pictures.  I've put in a ton of effort and the course now consists of 13 holes when not crowded or 12 holes when crowded (for safety).  The holes range from 150' to 550' with an overall average of 300'.  There are five wooded hole, five park style holes and three open holes.  Off the tee the holes (for me) use: putter (2), mid (3), fairway (2) and driver (5).  There is a lot of elevation change, four holes are uphill, four are downhill and five are flat.  Because of the elevation playing thirteen holes feels like a full round.

So a lot of variety in the course.

Every hole now has a teepad (either pavement or mostly artifical turf pads on tee boxes).

There are tee numbers and distances on homemade log sliced signs.

A few pictures:

This shows the distances with the holes . . . although there was a hole inserted between 3 and 4 that is 250' . . .

This is what they look like out on the course:

Here's an example of one of the new teepads (on Hole 5, a 300' long wooded tunnel hole):

Here's the green for that Hole 5:

This is the Great Serpent hole (Hole 6).  Twisting fairway and then when you get to the serpent's head the green is an island egg/sun in its mouth. 😀

Much more fun to throw with a teepad installed this spring:

Hole 8, tunnel shot along a scenic creek:

This one is Hole 9, I call it the Hill Hell Hole.  Short but tight lines and very steep.  Built a bridge to cross the creek since it was a pain to cross.

Here's an open hole (Hole 10), short and will be interesting in future years as the cedar trees grow.  Have to hit the island and then putt on Turkey Ridge's signature elevated basket with OB nearby.  Not a hard hole . . . until the wind is whipping and you're putting on an elevated basket.

Green for Hole 12 (King Kong hole, named for the giant oak tree marking the midpoint of the hole, not pictured here):

A lot of these guys around . . . Turkey Ridge isn't just a clever name . . . it's a rare day when we don't see them . .
