The Disc Golf Streak, Day 677

Day 677 of the streak.

Decided to head down to Burg (Williamsburg Community Park in Williamsburg, OH) for a casual round of doubles, just the two of us.

Set our alarms and got up pretty early to get a round in without spending an entire day away from home.  Felt like heaven in the cool woods in the early morning.  So much nicer than those mid-90's days we've had for the last week.

Nothing too exciting to note, we had a good time and threw a 7-under (53) which is solid for us.  8 birdies and one bogey (bad lie on Hole 7 got us).  It was casual, so while we played from our first shots we did throw some practice shots as well.  Basically stayed out of trouble and converted a reasonable number of our opportunities.

Noteworthy for me was that I had a throw (second throw, practice) on 19 that was about 400' (blue star Beast).  While it was certainly aided by the downhill slope it was still the most solid feeling drive I've ever thrown.  Had to walk another 125' to get to it from my first drive which we played from. (Doh!)

Danny's driving was mediocre today, it's been kind of off for a few days.  He had really dialed it in a week or two ago . . . but it's a challenging game and hard to be consistent --  always a couple steps forward and then a step back.  I think we'll give his driving a rest for a couple days and just do putt and approach instead to give him a mental and physical rest. I need to slow him down and help him stop some rounding he's doing.

Anyway, his upshot and putting game was solid today and saved us some strokes.  When we threw it a year ago as a doubles team while out with the Lahms and company I think we were around 63, so a nice 10 stroke improvement year-to-year.

Now all we have to do is continue that kind of improvement for one more year and then stay consistent.  ha ha
